So in Eve, there are a lot of mechanics that work in the favor of when the little guy is going up against the bigger guy. For one, locking speed and mass means that little frigates can surprise, and/or get away from cruisers before they can lock and kill them. I'm wondering if a similar aspect for Dust could help solve (part of) TTK problem (that new players are having against proto players).
Problem: High damage weapons from high SP players in addition to their high HP means new players have a hard time going head to head with them.
Solution:
Stimpacks (equipment)-
Limited use injections with significant drawbacks that give temporary bonuses to players to mostly help with evasion until forces can be effectively concentrated or a better position is found.
Blue-Tonic Stim-
Bonus: 75% instant full shield recharge and regen cycle initiation (plus some resists?). Cooldown 1 min. Drawback: cannot fire handheld weapons during use and afterward for 10 seconds.
Exile Stim-
Bonus: Your light weapon and ammunition are almost immediately refabricated to patch all damage to your armor. Drawback: Your light/heavy slot weapon is removed and armor returns to 100% (plus some temporary resists?).
X-Instinct Stim-
Bonus: Your signature drops by 50% dB for 30 seconds. Drawback: During this time your shields are reset to 0 and do not recharge until the effects of the stim wears off.
Mindflood Stim-
Bonus: +100% endurance pool and regeneration for 30 seconds, +25% sprint speed during duration. Drawback: Cannot fire handheld weapons during duration of the effect.
Sooth-Sayer Stim
Bonus: 60% damage at effective range rather than 30% for 30 seconds. Drawback: Endurance is set to 0 during duration of stim.
All stim drawbacks stack on each other, but only the most recent bonus applies.
None of these would really help you to kill another player while in the heat of battle (except for sooth-sayer possibly). They would all be 'wasting' an equipment slot and rather than enhancing lethality, would really just help temporary survivability. For every equipment slot your team is wasting on one of these, that is one fewer object they will have on the field. They could be very selectively used by experienced players, but the window of time that they essentially reduce the lethality of a player would severely limit them. A logi would be able to use a blue topic, exile, and mindflood all in a row to immediately regen nearly all HP, but they would be effectively removing themselves from the battle for at least 30 seconds so that they could escape. They would have sacrifice their highslot as well. |

The way I see it, many proto suits get the ability to nearly double their HP compared to their base variant. By giving modules that let you practically refill your main HP pools, you can effectively get to have proto HP, IF you are quick enough, but you can't have their lethality.
As far as the exile, that could be extreme, we could just say it has a weapon use penalty too.
Also, these could maybe be in the grenade slot rather than the equipment. It would make more sense then since you wouldn't have to switch to them and it would be more of a reflexive option.
I still think we need some disruption grenades anyway.
Grenades that cause weapon overheating, tracking (weapon sway) issues, zap endurance etc would all help with a kind of 'disruption' aspect to the game. |

Charged Scrambler headshots shouldn't really factor in to a TTK discussion IMO. |
